Sticky Post-- Poll of the Week

Look to your left and choose your favorite name in my poll of the week!

Thank You!

Done, Done, Done!

We are winding school down over here. Just today and tomorrow for regular school days and Friday is graduation for the Kinder's! I can hardly believe it-- this school year has absolutely flown by. I have experienced a lot that I never would have guessed...I have played Simon Says and done the Freeze Dance more than I can count. I have read countless books to the kiddles and spent an approximate 1225 wonderful hours with Aniya, who is leaving after she and I work the summer program. She has taught me SO much, and this is what I ended up writing in her goodbye card...

"I am so very thankful that I was given the opportunity to work as a team with you this year. Words can not express my thanks, for everything I have learned was taught by the best. Thank you for all the laughs, all the support, and God Bless you as you move on to the next path in life. I will miss you!!"

I have been working on a photo book for her, and I'll order a copy for myself as well. It is ADORABLE. Seriously, I love it SO much and am extremely proud of how it has turned out. I will be adding a few more pictures from today as well as whatever photos I snap at graduation. I could order it today and be 100% satisfied with it. If you want to take a look at it, just leave a comment or your email address :)

Moody Mondays 5/19

Do you have a favorite place that you like to shop? I love Old Navy, but they are a little $$$ for me. There is a HUGE Goodwill a few miles from here that I've had wonderful luck with!

Do you like going to the mall? Only if I am going out to eat with family/friends. I am not one to hang around/walk around the mall "for fun"

Are there any stores that you "have" to shop at? Nope

Are there any name brands that you buy and will never not buy them? No, my clothes are all different brands!

Moody Mondays

Manic Monday 5/19

If you knew that every minute of the next 24 hours of your life would be recorded on camera is there anything you would change about your habits? No I don't think so. Most of that time I would be at work or sleeping and there really isn't anything I'd change there. ;)

If you could take a one-month trip to any single destination in the world and money is not a consideration, where would you go? Australia!

What is the best example of “perfection” that you can think of? A newborn baby! Aww..

Ten on Tuesday 5/21

10 Movies I am Excited to See

I really haven't been following the movies lately, but I'll see what I can come up with! I don't think I will see any of these in the theater though, I rarely go there!!!

1. Kung Fu Panda- saw an ad for it and it looks cute!!

2. Made of Honor-- okay this one I might see in the $ theater...I do like Patrick Dempsey!

3. oh yea, and Baby Mama...looks hysterical! Another $ theater one ;)

4.Harold and Kuma...will wait though

5. The Visitor looks interesting...

6. The Promotion may be okay

7. Get Smart-- Anne Hathaway AND Steve Carrell?!?! I am totally in!!!

8. The Wackness sounds watch-worthy. We'll see, I guess it doesn't come out until July...

9.Mama Mia!

10. Step Brothers. I saw an ad for this one just the other night and it looks funny. The two guys (Ferrell and Reilly) could really pass as brothers in my mind!

Give Me Five Monday 5/20

Give Me Five movies you'd choose to have along if you were stranded on a desert island (that happened to have electricity, a tv and dvd player).

Okay...I am going to say:
1) 13 Going on 30
2) 27 Dresses
3) The Wedding Planner
4) Alvin and the Chipmunks
5) The Passion

Curious as a Cat

1) How often do you see your parents? Would you rather see them more often, less often, or about as often as you currently see them? It really depends...sometimes I see them weekly for a few weeks, and then three weeks will go by before I see them. This is what works for me right now, so I am fine with that. When I lived up East, I did not see them much at all and enjoy living closer to them!

2) What do you most like or appreciate about the opposite sex? They are stronger physically and can accomplish things I cannot.

3) With which person from history would you choose to change places? about Maria Montessori? I think her life and work was fascinating, part of why I now work in a Montessori setting!

4) What is the emptiest part of your life? Relationships with guys...

5) Show and Tell. What comes to mind first when you see this picture? Or, tell a story if it reminds you of one.
It reminds me of the woods up the hill from my parents. As a young teen, I spent many countless hours on that hill, gazing at the sky, swinging on tree vines, running through the woods...good times, good times!

Do you have any idea how challenging it is to keep an important piece of a puzzle from all of your co-workers, including those you see every day??

It is beyond hard. I have a coworker, we'll call her Hope, who ended up in the ER early last week. I was asked to sub for her from Tuesday then Wednesday, then it ended up being all week. And now? It's all of next week as well, and she will not be at graduation. Odd? Yes.. very. However, my other co-workers, including Aniya keep mentioning to me that they think Hope's being out may have to do with her boyfriend of a year...a breakup, perhaps? Aniya and I tell each other pretty much everything at work, it's been excruciating for me this past week to not say anything about the ER trip that I know about. I know it has nothing to do with her boyfriend, that there is some type of legitimate reason Hope will not return this year. And yet, my boss confirmed to me last night that no one else knows about the the secret I will continue to keep.

But it is killing me!

Thirteen Things That Have Been Occupying My Time...

I have been so busy these past few weeks...
1. One of my co-workers' dad was in the hospital for a week, then died-- I subbed 7 out of 11 work days for her.
2. Then, another one of my co-workers ran a race on Saturday. Monday evening she ended up in the ER and is out for the rest of the I subbed yesterday, today and will sub Thursday and Friday as well. Can we say exhausted?!?!
3. My school is being inspected tomorrow so I had to make sure my classroom is ready! I am freaking out about it, being a 1st year teacher and all...prayers are much appreciated!!!!!
4. I am working on a photo book of the cute kids in school for my co-teacher Aniya who is leaving. Every day I try to take more adorable pictures, but the project is SO time consuming!
5. I am having a hard time being in my apartment lately-- just thinking about the end of the year and the fact that I have to pack up the classroom/ my apartment. So, I've been spending my evenings after work browsing Meijer or hanging out at the library...working on the darned photo project...
6. The kids at school are also occupying a lot of my time-- they have been ridiculously crazy and wound up the past few days and it's been rainy so we've not been outside much at all.
7. I had volleyball playoffs on Monday evening-- I'm glad volleyball is over, just because I was getting exhausted working and then trying to play a sport...hah!
8. Did I mention the inspection??????
9. and moving!??!!?!
10. and, oh yea...graduations, First Communions, Confirmations...
11. Trying to get ready for Belize...

Bad Blogger

Bad, bad, bad is the type of blogger I've been lately. I haven't written...haven't commented...and truthfully don't see an end to the madness until mid-June, once graduation and the two week program has come and gone. I am trying not to over-analyze these next four weeks, because I know they're going to be awfully hard. Each day is one day closer to the end of working with Aniya, with my other co-workers, and one day closer to the summer that is bound to be more than interesting. Living with my family...I just don't know how it's going to go!

I have had another "no time to breathe!!" week.... just lots going on, in school and out.

Tuesday evening I went traipsing around Big City, looking for cheap flower seeds that the kiddos could use for their Mother's Day projects. I looked at Home Depot, Meijer, Walmart, The Dollar Tree, Target... Wally World actually had the cheapest at just $0.99. I bought 20 packages, we used 19 for the projects and Aniya took one home.

Wednesday evening I hit the Half Price Bookstore...SO dangerous for me. I made a list of books I want to read, but didn't want to buy...hopefully the library will have a few of them at least. I also picked up a bunch of kids' books- I Spy, The Legend of the Christmas Tree, Classic Bedtime Stories, The Copycat Fish, The Littlest Angel Earns His Halo, Debi Gliori's Bedtime Stories (with a CD!), and three Look at Your Body (Lungs, Blood, Brain) books each for only $1!! I don't own many kids' books but I figured it was a good time to get my personal library built up!

On Thursday I went out for drinks with 4 of my co-workers and a former teacher at my school. I had a hard day at school, wasn't feeling well, and really didn't feel like going out, but it was just what I needed! I was there until 10 pm and left feeling relaxed and ready for another school day.

There have been a few days recently when Aniya had to leave school at lunchtime, and Friday was one of them. She headed to the grocery store, and since I had a few things I needed there as well, she was kind enough to take my grocery list and shop for me-- woohoo, one less trip for me! This seems to be the week of the two of us exchanging money back and forth.

Earlier in the week, Aniya had emailed me regarding a book fair, since I was planning to go on Saturday. During school on Friday, Aniya mentioned that if all the kiddos were gone from school early enough, did I want to go with her? I didn't have anything planned following school, so we left Nadia with our boss and headed to buy a few (haha!!) books. Between the two of us we spent well over $100 but I'm not sure how much I owe her yet...she spent more than I did. The books I picked up:
Pocket Pages: Snakes, Corduroy Lost and Found, Beading for the First Time, Baby Bear, Baby Bear, What Do You See, Let's Draw Horses, Wonderplay, Too, The First Thanksgiving, Chicka Chicka 1-2-3, Wind and Weather, I Love You Sleepyhead

Yesterday was spent shopping, at the library, browsing at Barnes & Noble, and eating dinner at an Amish restaurant with my friend Amy. I do not get the opportunity to spend time with Amy very much, since we both work and are gone a lot of weekends, so it was a wonderful day.

I also went to a talk this week-- remember Candace Cameron Bure? She played DJ on Full House...well, I had the opportunity to attend a talk of hers- she is an excellent, excellent speaker, very down to earth woman. I snapped a few quick pictures-

In between all of this, Mac and I did some apartment searching, and I fit in laundry, cleaning my car, and just generally catching up in life... oh, yes and I am working on Aniya's photo book. I so wish I could show you all pictures of the adorable kids I work with. Some of the shots are just precious!

3x Thursday 5/8: Upcoming Plans

1. What plans do you have for the upcoming weekend? I went shopping, to the bookstore, church, and out to eat yesterday. Today I am just relaxing and cleaning...YAY!

2. Do you have any major plans for the summer? I will be working as a custodian again and traveling to Belize for 2 weeks. I hope to make it to the East Coast but I don't know when!

3. If money was no object, is there would something you'd like to do/somewhere you'd like to go/etc? If so, what is it? If not, are you happy with the way things are? I would go to Hawaii for a few weeks, or maybe Australia. Truthfully, I would LOVE a job where I had to travel and photograph places...seriously.

3x Thursday

Saturday Six 5/10

1. How many days a week, on average, do you eat breakfast? 5 or so

2. If you eat a breakfast that involves actual cooking, what are most likely to prepare for yourself? eggs or a bagel

You Are Cheerios

But you can't help but still be a kid at heart!

You try to make good decisions. You're a clean cut, conscientious person.

You're the type of person who would never skip breakfast.

Part of you thinks that breakfast is too important to miss...

But a bigger part of you knows it's too fun to miss!

5. When you eat pancakes, how many do you typically place in a stack? three

6. How do you like your pancakes: with butter/margarine or without, and what flavor of syrup? With margarine and regular syrup

Coming out of the fog...

I feel like I'm behind in life, sleep, blogging, name it, I'm behind!

Today was our first "normal" school day in over two weeks. Normal in the fact that all 12 of us were at school today, at our respective times, in our own classrooms. Thank Goodness!! Of course, "normal" did include a nosebleed, a fainting child (okay, NOT normal, but happened!), children falling, crying, and of course, learning. ;)

I haven't had a moment to breathe lately. I've subbed 7 of the past 11 work days, and Aniya did the same. We had a teacher who's dad was in the hospital and then died a week ago, so with all of the funeral preparations and family coming into town, she's been out for what seemed like forever for us.

I've also had two Monday volleyball game nights...I played my hardest last night and got some awesome moves in, but am definitely bruised from it all. In addition, I've been to Shae's graduation weekend up north, Lily's play and Confirmation, Rachael's 8th Birthday celebration and 1st Communion, and took Lily, Rachael, and Grandma to get their ears pierced. I got one more while we were there...can't pass up a piercing!

Aniya and I helped the kids at school make Mother's Day gifts, but we've mostly been playing outside with the kids because the weather is cooperating! I am slowly coming to terms with the fact that Aniya won't be back next year, but it's so hard! Stepping up to be the lead in our classroom will be an interesting step in the boldness realm...haha!

Tag time: I'm tagging 6 people who commented on my TT post-- SJ, Adelle, Claudia, Denise, Brenda, and Melanie.

Words I didn't want to hear...

Yesterday as I was leaving work, I was chatting with my boss. She thanked me for subbing so much these past two weeks and then proceeded to ask if I had any ideas for next year...that is, someone to work with.

It's official, Aniya is leaving. A fact that I am extremely sad and upset about.

And apparently, I will be the lead teacher in our classroom.

I am freaking out.
