Aniya’s Mug/ShotGlass

Mug #2, finally!

This is actually for my first co-teacher Aniya. She asked for a mug. I told her this one isn’t really big enough for tea and she explained that she’ll just use it for shots instead. LMAO.

Before- at least the handle is sturdy! Hehe…

The Pottery Is Endless

Clearly, I’ve lost my blogging mojo, as I’ve only blogged six times the entire month. So very pitiful…

Life goes on, though. I am alive. Haha.

To date, I have complete fourteen pieces of pottery. I have a few more “in production”, as always. Anyway, I thought maybe you’d like to see some of the newer pieces??

Since I’m having such a hard time blogging lately, I’m thinking I may begin doing one post a day. Clearly WAY more than I’m posting now, so usually it will just be a photo or two…but perhaps it’ll keep me more motivated????

Soo…here goes nothing. Enjoy?

A purple/yellow butterfly bowl for my youngest sister for her 11th birthday at the beginning of this month. Smile And um, she’s a huge fan of yellow so the only purple is the light purple butterfly. LOL.

I took my two youngest sisters to paint pottery- I made a mug. It actually came out really well. I’m running out of things to DO with all this pottery though. I love it too much to give it away…

What do you think? The mug is hard to see but it has light blue and purple dots… Open-mouthed smile

I knew that this week would be tough in a weird way.

A year ago, I was finishing up my third and final year of teaching (for now). As eager as I was to remove myself from the situation with Jessa, it was still extremely sad to leave my awesome co-teachers and students, making graduation a rough day.

It’s so hard to believe that was a year ago! I feel like I’ve come so far, or not far at all, depending on how I look at it.

After a few months of therapy (seeing a counselor, that is) earlier this year, I had to give myself a break from my co-workers. I saw one at my birthday, one during their spring break, and another right around St. Patrick’s Day, and then didn’t talk to any of them besides my roommate for two months. I’m not sure if it was the right way for me to deal with the aftermath, but I needed it. Being in constant contact with the girls was making it hard, aye impossible, to really move on.

But now I feel like I’ve come to a place where I can see them again. I’ve talked to a few and hopefully will see Amy tomorrow after the graduation, to hang out with her son while we walk around the zoo. It’s inevitable that I will run into many of my old students, and that’s fine. I’d love to see them!

Ay, yi…healing sure does take time.

Vacation, where are you?

I am in desperate need of a vacation. I need a break from the 6 am call of the alarm, the dreary rain, the carting around of children who are not mine. I need to sleep, read, sit by the ocean and hear the beautiful sound of crashing waves,

I am really struggling with having to work full time this summer. I don't mean to sound like a brat, for the last few summers I was still working, just not full time and usually not at 7 am. With babysitting I was able to set my own schedule and usually work evenings. These early mornings are killing me. Literally. No matter what time I (force myself to) go to bed, I wake up exhausted. I am just not wired to get up at 6 am. I'm more wired to work until midnight or 2 am, and I'm not joking.

So, yea. I'm worn out. I want a fun summer, a relaxing summer, and it's not happening. I'll be the chick working 60 hour weeks zombie-eyed while I dream of being on a beach somewhere...

My Worst Mother's Day

Contrary to the belief of my Twitter friends, many of whom wished me a Happy Mother's Day yesterday, I am not (yet?) a mom. I'm definitely a pseudo-mom, taking care of kiddos until I drop Smile

So, while I don’t actually celebrate the holiday for myself, I do have a slightly funny story to tell.

When I was young, probably 9-12 or so, I had the brightest idea. Mother’s Day was coming up and I thought it would be a nice surprise to order flowers for my mom in appreciation of all she did for us.

Looking back, I’m not sure why I didn’t just ask my dad to pick up some flowers from a local shop, but I digress.

So, I called around to price different bouquets and delivery services. After my research, I gave up. I have no idea how much money I’d planned to spend but whatever they quoted was clearly too much.

Imagine my surprise when come Mother’s Day morning, a flower delivery truck drove up the street and parked in front of my childhood home. One of my siblings noticed first and, knowing my flower debacle, questioned if I had, maybe accidentally, ordered flowers…

I’m pretty sure if you had taken a picture of my face at that moment, it could easily be used for blackmail today. I think I started hyperventilating and protesting that I didn’t, I was sure, at least I didn’t think so….???? EEEK!!

Thankfully, while the flowers were for my mom, I had not accidentally ordered them. They’d come from my grandpa. Wheww….

But yea, I’ll remember that story for years to come. If my mom is reading, she probably remembers. I wonder if her version of the story would be different? Smile

Oh, and Happy Belated Mother’s Day to all you moms out there!

My New Best Friends

One of my lovely younger sisters suggested a tv show for me to check out a few weeks back.

Check it out I did...and meet my new best friends.

There's a good reason I'm behind in blogging...see you in a few weeks- or at the rate I'm going, in about a week. :) This is how I get with really good shows- I did it a few years ago with Prison Break. Yes, I'm working and still babysitting, but oh, my free time? Spent with these lovely people!

It's quite possible that Bones is my new favorite show. Ever seen it?

I realize a lot of this has to do with Easter still, but let’s just pretend it’s simply Spring related…I’m just not organized enough to post everything Easter at the same time, plus that would make for a damn long post.
And so, a couple really simple crafty things the kids and I have been doing. Crayon shavings, egg shaped paper, paint, and just plain drawings. Nothing fancy, but colorful seems to help this dreary month. (Er, when this posts…it will officially be May, so last month’s crappy weather. Here’s to a beautiful May, what’cha say?)
